5 Reasons You're Missing Out on Streams (And how to Fix Them)
Simple Mistakes That Could Be Costing You Fans
Your cover art looks amateur
Let’s be real…a lot of people are releasing music these days. In a sea of new releases people will scroll right past low effort artwork and assume that the music is low effort too.
Fix it: Invest in clean and professional visuals. Hire a graphic designer, schedule a professional photoshoot. People will only take you as seriously as you take yourself.
You Picked a Release Date That Was Too Soon
You chose a release date that didn’t give the platforms enough time to release the song properly. Now, instead of your song dropping on all platforms at once, it's only available on some. You also miss out on the chance to pitch your song for official Spotify playlisting
Fix it: Submit your song 3-4 weeks before the release date. This gives you time to pitch to Spotify and ensures enough time for your song to be ready on all platforms by release day.
3. You Don’t Have a Smart Link
People listen to music on different platforms and if you’re only posting the link to one platform, you’re risking missing out on listeners from all of the others. Don’t rely on people having to type the song in manually.
Fix it: Use a platform like linkfire or linktree to create a link that pulls up the song on each platform
4. You Dropped the Song/Project and Went Silent
On release day you made a post that said “Out Now” and then crickets…Only a small percentage of your followers saw your post.
Fix it: Find creative ways to keep posting about your song for at least 30 days post release
5. No Pre-Release Strategy
Yes, a surprise drop worked for Beyonce, but until we’ve built up our star power, we need a rollout that includes posting before the release.
Fix it: Share behind the scenes of making the song, a short snippet etc. to let your fans and followers know that something’s coming.
